Freetown, May 6, 2025 – The Committee on Appointments and Public Service, led by the Majority Leader and Leader of Government Business, Honourable Mathew Sahr Nyuma, conducted a formal screening of two presidential nominees for high-level national appointments.
Held under live media coverage, the session saw the nominees questioned under oath on various professional and procedural matters. Chairman Nyuma, in his opening address, welcomed the nominees and members of the public, emphasizing the committee’s responsibility to thoroughly vet appointees for competence and readiness to serve.
“This process is designed to evaluate the educational qualifications, track records, and suitability of nominees for the offices they are expected to occupy,” Hon. Nyuma stated.
The nominees who appeared before the committee included:
1. Mohamed Alie Bah – nominated for membership on the National Commission for Social Action.
2. Ibrahim Sannoh – nominated for the position of Minister of Youth Affairs.
During the interactive session, committee members posed targeted questions and shared their expectations for improved service delivery should the nominees receive approval. Following the interviews, both candidates were referred to the parliamentary plenary for final consideration.
