The National Civil Registration Authority (NCRA) has issued a public notice urging citizens who applied for ID cards, including National, ECOWAS, and Non-National cards, to collect their cards from designated offices across the country.
According to the NCRA, the production of ID cards commenced in January 2023, and since then, the Authority has continued to serve the public by issuing these cards at district offices and other outlets. However, a significant number of applicants have yet to collect their cards, despite receiving SMS notifications.
“We have noticed that many clients have not returned to collect their ID cards, even after being notified through SMS,” said Mohamed M.I. Massaquoi, Director General of NCRA.
He added that investigations revealed issues with the contact information provided by some applicants. “In some cases, the phone numbers provided belong to relatives or friends, making it difficult for the actual applicants to receive the notifications. Additionally, some phone numbers were found to be non-existent.”
As a result, a considerable number of uncollected ID cards remain at NCRA offices and outlets.
The Authority is now appealing to all those who applied for ID cards on or before July 31, 2024, to visit the offices or outlets where they initially applied to collect their cards, even if they have not received a notification.
“Please bring your ID card application slip for ease of reference,” Massaquoi advised, emphasizing the importance of collecting the cards promptly.
