On February 23, 2025, Sierra Leone’s Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sackey issued an urgent appeal to parents, Board of Governors, and Members of Parliament regarding the ongoing National Primary School Examination (NPSE) and Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) registration processes.
In a statement released on social media, Minister Sackey emphasized the critical importance of adhering to registration deadlines. “Let me be clear: NO SCHOOL WILL BE ALLOWED TO UPLOAD AFTER THE DEADLINE,” he asserted.
The Minister highlighted that while many schools have successfully completed their registration uploads, some are still lagging behind. He urged immediate action from all stakeholders, “I am calling on parents, Board of Governors, and Members of Parliament to take immediate action.”
Minister Sackey encouraged community engagement to ensure timely completion of the registration process.
“Engage with school leaders in your communities and ensure they complete the registration process for their pupils without delay,” he advised.
He also underscored the potential consequences of missing the registration deadline, stating, “Failure to upload before the deadline means pupils will not be able to sit for their exams—something we must not allow to happen.”
Concluding his message, Minister Sackey called for collective responsibility: “Let’s act now. Hold school leaders accountable and make sure they do their part. Education is a right, and timely registration is a responsibility we all share.”
The MBSSE continues to monitor the registration process closely to ensure that every eligible child is registered on time for their examinations.
