Alhaji Honourable Ibrahim Kemoh Sesay, in a compelling address, urged members of the APC party to exercise patience amidst the ongoing controversy surrounding the leadership position.
Sesay clarified that invoking Article 47a(IV) of the APC 2022 constitution, aimed at the removal of Dr Samura Kamara, must be understood in the context of the electoral complications faced in the June 23, 2023, multi-tier elections.
Highlighting irregularities in the elections, Sesay emphasized the establishment of a tripartite committee tasked with investigating and proposing recommendations.
He urged party members to acknowledge that, until the committee concludes its review, Dr Samura Kamara should remain the leader.
Sesay cautioned against prematurely interpreting constitutional clauses, emphasizing the importance of awaiting the committee’s findings.
His stance is grounded in preserving the APC’s integrity and avoiding disruptions. Sesay recorded a message vehemently denying APC’s involvement in an alleged plot to overthrow the government, dismissing it as government confusion and propaganda aimed at destroying the APC.
In his address to the nation and international community, Sesay advocates for a well-informed and measured approach, steering the party through this critical period with patience and respect for due process.
