FREETOWN – Popular Sierra Leonean rapper and entertainment ambassador, Kao Denero, has been released on Le50,000 bail as court proceedings continue in a case involving alleged incitement and intimidation.
The matter, heard on Monday, August 11, 2025, before Magistrate Adama Kandeh at Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 4, stems from accusations under the Public Order Act No. 46 of 1965.
According to court documents, Denero is alleged to have incited Medlenero and Amadu Sesay to assault complainant Fredrick Dapaye Peters at the Radisson Blu Mammy Yoko Hotel on February 22, 2025, and to have engaged the same individuals in disorderly conduct at the venue on the same date.
The rapper pleaded not guilty to both charges. Magistrate Kandeh addressed a bench warrant issued for his earlier absence, noting that his medical leave had exceeded the approved two weeks without sufficient documentation.
Defense counsel A. Kamara argued for bail, citing Denero’s public influence and the absence of a prosecution affidavit opposing the application.
Prosecutor M. Sesay countered that such an affidavit was not legally required and urged the court to impose strict bail terms.
Magistrate Kandeh granted bail with conditions, including two sureties residing within the court’s jurisdiction, each required to present a valid National Identity Card.
The bail terms are subject to approval by the Deputy Assistant Registrar.
