Former Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Joseph Fitzgerald Kamara, has declared his intention to vie for the All People’s Congress (APC) flagbearer position in the upcoming 2028 general elections.
Kamara, widely known as JFK, made this announcement during a recent visit to Port Loko, a region recognized as an APC stronghold.
Kamara’s political journey includes a notable attempt in the 2018 APC flagbearer race, where his close association with then-President Ernest Bai Koroma positioned him as a formidable contender. Despite not securing the leadership at that time, Kamara has remained an active and influential figure within the party. He has been instrumental in providing legal counsel to both senior officials and grassroots members facing legal challenges, thereby maintaining his prominence in political circles.
His recent declaration has intensified discussions regarding the APC’s leadership trajectory as the party strategizes for the 2028 elections.
Kamara’s potential candidacy is poised to influence the party’s direction and its prospects in the forthcoming electoral contest.
