Masaka, Sierra Leone – February 19, 2026 — Security personnel at the Mile 38 Checkpoint have arrested a Guinean national after allegedly discovering suspected kush concealed in his vehicle during a routine operation.
The arrest was carried out in a joint exercise involving officers of the Sierra Leone Police (SLP) and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces (RSLAF) stationed at the strategic checkpoint in Masaka Division.
According to security officials, the incident occurred on Thursday, February 19, when officers stopped a vehicle with Guinea registration number AZ 8886 for a routine search. The driver, identified as Ibrahim Sorie Camara, was subjected to inspection, during which officers reportedly uncovered a quantity of substance believed to be kush hidden in the trunk of the vehicle.
Following the discovery, the suspect was immediately taken into custody.
Authorities confirmed that Camara, together with the seized substance, has been transferred to the headquarters of the Transnational Organised Crime Unit (TOCU) for further investigation.
The arrest forms part of ongoing efforts by security forces to crack down on the trafficking and circulation of illegal drugs across Sierra Leone’s borders and communities.
