In a groundbreaking move to tackle transportation woes and alleviate road congestion, the Government of Sierra Leone is set to usher in a fleet of 50 cutting-edge seventy-seater buses in early November this year.
This monumental initiative is a pivotal facet of the $50 million “Sierra Leone Integrated and Resilient Urban Mobility Project (IRUMP),” a project generously financed by the World Bank.
The primary goal of this endeavor is to enhance urban mobility within Freetown by offering contemporary and efficient public transportation services.
Passengers can look forward to a premium experience aboard these new buses, complete with amenities such as air conditioning, Wi-Fi connectivity, and CCTV surveillance to guarantee both safety and comfort. Additionally, GPS tracking systems will be integrated to closely monitor the buses’ movements.
The Sierra Leone Transport Corporation (SLTC) will spearhead the operation and supervision of these state-of-the-art vehicles, marking a significant stride in the government’s relentless pursuit to enhance transportation throughout Sierra Leone.
