In a daring rescue operation, the Waterloo Police Division successfully saved two crew members, one British and one South African national, after their helicopter crash-landed at Mashehwureh Village, a suburb located approximately fifteen miles away from central Waterloo.
The incident was caused by a mechanical failure of the helicopter’s rotor blade.
Fortunately, both crew members are reported to be in good health and unharmed, and their luggage has been retrieved safely. The helicopter itself is said to be in good condition. Waterloo Police Division’s Head of Media, ASP Allieu Jalloh, has confirmed that there is nothing of security interest associated with the incident.
According to the police report, the crew members were en route from Monrovia, Liberia, to the Freetown International Airport before heading to Banjul, The Gambia. The timely and efficient rescue operation was carried out by the Waterloo Police Division, and accompanying photos of the incident have been made available to the public.
