Sierra Leone’s Premier League Champions Bo Rangers have been knock out of the CAF Champions League preliminary round after losing against Ivorian side FC San Pedro in the second leg of the tie.
The match held in Abidjan ended in a 1-0 in favour of the host.
Mohamed Karamoko’s goal in the 80 minutes was enough to send San Pedro to the next round and kick Bo Rangers out.
The first leg played last week between the two teams ended 1-1 at the Southern Arena in Bo City. Mohamed Lamin puts the host in front in the 46” minutes with a brilliant goal after being set up star striker Musa Tombo. Bo Rangers however could not held on to the lead the 90 minutes as Dosso Issouf strike back for the visitors in the 73” minutes of play after a sloppy play by the host’s defence.
Guided by former national team coach, John Keister, Rangers will now go back to the drawing board and seek to come back strongly in the next edition of the CAF competition.
Last season, they were eliminated in the second round by Algeria’s CR Belouizdad, with a 6-2 aggregate score.
Having triumph over Bo Rangers, FC San Pedro will now face the winner of the Al Hilal (Sudan) versus Libya 2 matchup in the second round, set for September.
The CAF Interclub competitions are steadily gaining prominence in African football, attracting larger global TV audiences due to the rising quality of the matches. Last season, Al Ahly SC extended their record with a 12th TotalEnergies CAF Champions League title.
