Mattru Jong, Sierra Leone – July 4, 2025 — President Julius Maada Bio has officially commissioned the newly completed Mattru-Senehun Bridge, a key infrastructure project aimed at boosting agricultural trade and improving rural connectivity across the country.
The bridge, constructed under the Connectivity and Agricultural Market Infrastructure Project (CAMIP), is one of five being built nationwide as part of the government’s ongoing development efforts.
“Today, we commissioned the Mattru Bridge, fulfilling another promise to our people,” President Bio announced on social media. “With the Big Five Agenda, we committed to ensuring development reaches all corners of Sierra Leone. Through CAMIP, we are also building four more bridges: Komrabai, Kabbah Ferry, Sumbuya, and Moselolo.”
The President emphasized that the bridge is not just a symbol of progress, but a functional piece of infrastructure designed to support the government’s flagship Feed Salone initiative.
“The Mattru-Senehun Bridge is instrumental to the success of the Feed Salone Project,” he said. “We are replacing hand-use ferry crossings across the country with modern bridges to ensure farmers get access to markets more easily and safely.”
The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture through the Smallholder Commercialization and Agribusiness Development Project (SCADeP). Officials say it aims to reduce transport barriers, improve safety, and connect rural communities.
With the commissioning of the Mattru Bridge, the Bio administration continues to underscore its commitment to infrastructure-led development and inclusive economic growth.
Job well done
