Freetown, Sierra Leone – July 3, 2026 — A fraud-related trial involving prominent business figures Admire Bio-Jalloh (popularly known as “Mama of Freetown” and a niece of President Julius Maada Bio) and her husband, Dauda “Dausy” Jalloh, was adjourned today to July 9, 2026, by Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1.
Prosecutor Yusif Isaac Sesay told the court that he had only recently gained access to the full case files and needed additional time for a thorough review.
He committed to expediting the matter and formally served the defense with key documents intended for use at trial. Defense counsel Melron Nicol-Wilson consented to the adjournment and successfully applied for bail on behalf of the defendants.
Magistrate Jah granted bail under stringent conditions, including a property surety valued at US$500,000, the surrender of property conveyance documents and passports, and a complete prohibition on using social media. Any breach will result in immediate revocation of bail.
Background on the Case
The case centers on allegations of a substantial gold-related scam. Admire Bio-Jalloh and Dauda Jalloh are accused of defrauding foreign investors, reportedly two Italian nationals, of amounts estimated between approximately US$210,000 and US$300,000 through false pretenses in gold transactions or investment deals.
Earlier developments drew significant public attention:
– Admire Bio-Jalloh spent time in police custody at the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) before being granted bail in late June 2026.
– Police had declared her husband, Dauda “Dausy” Jalloh (also known as Alhaji Dausy), wanted in connection with multiple offenses, including conspiracy to defraud, obtaining money by false pretenses, unauthorized dealings in minerals, money laundering, tax evasion, and related charges.
The matter has sparked widespread discussion in Sierra Leone, with some public commentary defending the couple and others highlighting the complaints from the alleged victims, who claimed they were lured into the country for investment purposes only to be deceived.
This latest hearing marks another step in the ongoing proceedings. With the short adjournment to July 9, both the prosecution and defense are expected to advance the case further under the magistrate’s oversight. The strict bail conditions underscore the court’s emphasis on ensuring the defendants’ compliance during trial.
Further updates will be reported as the matter continues.
