FREETOWN – Magistrate Mustapha Braima Jah of Pademba Road Magistrate Court No. 1 has sentenced ten men to one month in prison for idle and disorderly conduct, following their arrest in the Lumley area of Freetown.
The convicted men—Alusine Kamara, Abdul Ishmael Kamara, Mohamed Bilah Jalloh, Mohamed Fornah, Mohamed Kallon, Alphajor Bah, James Mansaray, Ansumana Turay, Abdulai Sama Kallon, and Ahmed Sesay—were found guilty of breaching Section 7 of the Public Order Act No. 6 of 1965, which criminalizes idling and disorderly behavior.
Court records show the group was apprehended for “loitering in a loose and disorderly manner.” All ten pleaded guilty when the charges were read. None were represented by legal counsel.
Prosecutor Ziza Esq. presented the case, after which Magistrate Jah imposed the one-month custodial sentence.
An eleventh defendant, Lawrence Golia, pleaded not guilty and has been remanded at the Pademba Road Male Correctional Facility while awaiting further trial.
