The Sierra Leone Police are set to charge three individuals for illegal possession of bomb-making materials and dangerous drugs.
This revelation was made by Detective Inspector Mohamed A.Y. Kamara.
As part of the ongoing investigation, authorities have interviewed 22 suspects, including four Lebanese nationals and 18 Sierra Leoneans. The collected statements have been submitted to the Law Officers Department for further evaluation.
The individuals facing charges have been identified as Samuel Marrah, Jamal Antar, and Hussein Alie Antar. While specific charges have not yet been disclosed, Inspector Kamara indicated that the decision to move forward was based on recommendations from the Law Officers Department, though he declined to provide additional details.
The charges follow a thorough police investigation that reportedly implicated the three suspects in the alleged plot.
“Our investigation was conducted in collaboration with the Law Officers Department, which advised us to proceed with charges against three of the 22 suspects currently in custody,” said Detective Kamara.
The arrests were made during a joint security operation that led to the seizure of a significant quantity of bomb-making materials and illegal drugs. The police confirmed that those detained include both Middle Eastern and Sierra Leonean nationals.
