The figures were unveiled during the SLP’s routine press briefing held at the Senior Police Officer’s Mess, Kingtom Police Barracks.
According to the statistics, Freetown East (F/East) remains the most crime-prone area, recording 798 cases, including 235 violent crimes. Freetown West (F/West) followed with 478 reported cases, making the Western Area the region with the highest crime concentration in the country.
In contrast, the Northern Eastern (N/East) and Northern Western (N/West) regions recorded 186 and 199 cases respectively. The Eastern Region had 303 cases, while the Southern Region registered the lowest figures with 162 cases.
The police stressed the urgent need for targeted crime prevention and intervention, particularly in high-risk urban zones such as Freetown East and West, where incidents of violent, economic, and property-related crimes remain high.
In addition to the statistical update, the police reported the theft of 156 solar batteries intended for an energy project in Masiaka. One suspect is currently in custody, assisting with the investigation.
Authorities reaffirmed their commitment to boosting law enforcement visibility, intelligence gathering, and community policing efforts to curb the rising trend, especially in densely populated urban areas.
