The Sierra Leone Police (SLP) has granted approval to the opposition All Peoples Congress (APC) to conduct a nationwide sensitisation tour ahead of its pre-convention elections.
The clearance, issued by police headquarters on December 12, 2025, followed a formal request from the APC leadership to facilitate internal party engagements across the country.
In a letter addressed to the party’s Internal Elections Management Committee, the police authorised meetings in all districts and the Western Area from December 15, 2025, to January 4, 2026.
The tour is scheduled to begin in Kambia, Port Loko and Karene districts on December 15 and 16, before moving to Falaba, Koinadugu, Bombali, Tonkolili, Kono, Kailahun and Kenema. Engagements in Bo, Pujehun, Bonthe and Moyamba districts are planned for December 28 to 30. Meetings in Western Area Urban and Western Area Rural are set for January 3 and 4, 2026, respectively.
According to the police, all activities must take place strictly at APC party offices, with designated times approved for each location. Meetings are expected to start as early as 10:00 a.m., with the latest scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
The police emphasised that the approval covers meetings only and does not extend to rallies, street processions or jogging activities. The use of marshals has also been prohibited.
Organisers have been reminded to adhere to the Public Order Act of 1965 and the Road Traffic Regulations of 2007, while maintaining close coordination with regional police commanders. Senior police officers have been tasked with overseeing security arrangements throughout the tour.
The Inspector General of Police assured the APC of the police force’s cooperation and directed all relevant units to comply with the clearance.
The move comes as political parties in Sierra Leone intensify preparations for internal activities ahead of the 2028 general elections.
