Freetown, Sierra Leone – The Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary School Education (MBSSE) has today announced the release of the 2024 National Primary School Examination (NPSE) results.
The announcement was made by MBSSE Minister Conrad Sackey during a broadcast on the Sierra Leone Broadcasting Corporation (SLBC).
The exams, held on May 4, 2024, saw participation from a total of 164,971 pupils sat for the NPSE, marking an increase of 1,111 candidates from the previous year. The examination also saw participation from 4,963 schools, 173 more than in 2023.
Despite the rise in participation, the MBSSE reported that 4,557 pupils were absent for all subjects, a record-high absenteeism rate. The ministry has stated that it will be investigating the reasons behind this concerning trend.
Notably, Haja Namasa Conteh from International School Limited in Freetown achieved the highest score of 344.
The top 2024 National Primary School Examination (NPSE) Primary School in Sierra Leone with more than one candidate is the International College Of Makeni Primary School.
The School entered twenty four (24) candidates and they all passed with an average score of three hundred and twenty (320),” the Minister of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Conrad Sackey disclosed.
The MBSSE is expected to release further details about the exam results in the coming days.
Minister Sackey emphasized the significance of the NPSE, which serves as a crucial milestone for primary school students transitioning to junior secondary school. He also commended the dedication and hard work of pupils, teachers, and parents during the examination period.
