In a significant development, Guinea’s anti-corruption court prosecutor has imposed travel restrictions on more than thirty accountants, preventing them from leaving the country.
This move comes in the midst of a challenging financial crisis faced by the government.
Additionally, the Prime Minister made a crucial announcement on state television, declaring the revocation of diplomatic and service passports for all ministers and top civil servants.
These measures are being implemented as Guinea grapples with ongoing financial difficulties.
The backdrop to these actions is the coup that took place in September last year, when army officers led by Colonel Doumbouya ousted the elected president, Alpha Conde. As a consequence of this coup, the West African bloc suspended Guinea’s membership.
In a further development, Guinea initiated a judicial investigation earlier this month, focusing on Alpha Conde and several former top officials. The investigation encompasses allegations of murder, torture, kidnappings, looting, and rapes.
