Freetown, Sierra Leone – November 3, 2025— Organizers of the popular ECOFEST Music Festival have announced the postponement of this year’s edition, citing the unavailability of a suitable venue capable of safely hosting the large-scale event.
In a statement released by ECOFEST CEO Mrs. Hawa Turay, the team expressed deep regret over the decision, noting that despite months of consultations, feasibility studies, and site visits, no alternative venue has met the safety, capacity, and logistical requirements needed for the festival.
“With the National Stadium still under renovation, we explored every possible alternative,” Turay explained. “However, none of the venues assessed could accommodate ECOFEST’s expected crowd size, production scale, and security standards. The safety of our fans, artists, and partners is non-negotiable, so we’d rather pause than compromise on quality.”
The announcement follows extensive planning and engagement with government agencies, venue managers, and security consultants. Organizers say that holding the event at smaller or less-equipped locations would have posed serious challenges in areas such as crowd control, emergency response, power supply, and sanitation.
ECOFEST, widely regarded as Sierra Leone’s biggest music and cultural festival, has been on hold since the closure of the National Stadium for renovation. The team says it remains committed to bringing the festival back in 2026, promising a “bigger, safer, and more accessible” event once suitable arrangements are finalized.
Further updates will be shared through ECOFEST’s official social media pages and communication platforms.
