Following his successful reelection, President Julius Maada Bio has unveiled the second list of his presidential appointments, comprising a comprehensive lineup of ministers, deputy ministers, and other important positions within the government.
The newly appointed individuals represent a diverse range of expertise and will play integral roles in driving Sierra Leone’s development and progress during President Bio’s second term.
Among the key appointments are Dr. Austin H. Demby as Minister of Health, Mr. Amara Kallon as Minister of Public Administration and Political Affairs, and Mr. Jiwoh Abdulai as Minister of the Environment and Climate Change and Minister of Youth Affairs. Additionally, Mr. Mohamed Orman Bangura has been designated as the Minister of Youth Affairs, and Mr. Mohamed R. Swaray will serve as the Minister of Employment, Labour, and Social Security, as well as the Minister of Internal Affairs.
Other notable appointments include Major-General (Rtd.) David T.O. Taluva as Minister of Internal Affairs, Dr. Henry M. Kpaka as Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Mr. Chernor Bah as Minister of Information and Civic Education, and Alhaji Kanja Sesay as Minister of Energy.
Furthermore, Amb. Alhaji Fanday Turay has been appointed as Minister of Transport and Aviation, Amb. Tamba Lamina as Minister of Local Government and Community Affairs, and Dr. Sao-Kpato Hannah Max-Kyne as Minister of Water Resources and Sanitation.
The list also features several deputy ministers who will support the ministers in their respective roles. Noteworthy appointments include Col (Rtd.) Muana Brima Massaquoi as Deputy Minister of Defence, Mr. Alpha Sesay as Deputy Minister of Justice, Dr. Charles Senesie as Deputy Minister of Health 1, and Dr. Jalikatu Mustapha as Deputy Minister of Health 2.
President Bio has also made key appointments for various other positions. Hon. Alhaji Dr. Alpha Bakarr Sahid Kanu has been designated as Presidential Spokesman, Mr. Solomon Jamiru as Press Secretary, and Dr. Kandeh Yumkella as Chairman of the Presidential Initiative for Climate Change, Renewable Energy, and Food Security. Amb. Michael Imran Kanu has been appointed as Ambassador and Permanent Representative for Sierra Leone to the United Nations, while Amb. Amara Sowa will serve as Deputy Permanent Representative.
Brigadier-General (Rtd.) Kellie Conteh has been appointed as National Security Adviser, Mr. Ernest Ndomahina as Commissioner of the National Commission for Social Action, and Mr. Lamina P. Vamboi as State Chief of Protocol. Furthermore, Mr. Abdul Kpakra will serve as Executive Officer 1, Office of the President, and Mr. Karmoh K. Conteh as Executive Officer 2.
