Chief Minister of Sierra Leone, David Moinina Sengeh, and his family are mourning the death of their close aide and driver, Abdul, whose passing has drawn widespread sympathy from government officials, friends, and supporters across the country.
In an emotional tribute shared on social media, Dr. Sengeh described Abdul as more than a staff member, saying the two had developed a close family bond over the years.
“I’m devastated at the news that my close protection/body guard died in a freak vehicle accident last night,” the Chief Minister wrote. He further paid tribute to Abdul’s character, stating that he “never lied, never stole, never betrayed me” and that they had “became family.”
Dr. Sengeh also reflected on Abdul’s loyalty and dedication, noting that he was always present but often worked behind the scenes. “He was in every shot and yet not seen,” he wrote while expressing grief over the loss.
Reports indicate that Abdul died following what was described as a freak vehicle accident. Details surrounding the incident remain limited, but news of his death quickly spread across social media, prompting an outpouring of condolences from Sierra Leoneans at home and abroad.
