The Sierra Leone People’s Party (SLPP) has ushered in a new wave of leadership with the election of Jimmy Batilo Songa as the party’s new National Chairman, following a decisive win at its 14th National Delegates Conference.
Songa secured a commanding 618 votes, defeating his closest contender, Ing. Amara Kanneh, who garnered 396 votes.
The outcome reflects broad support across party structures as the SLPP gears up for future political contests.
In other key results, Robert Kondema Kargbo emerged as Deputy National Chairman, while Paran Tarawally was elected National Secretary General. Alhasan George clinched the position of National Organising Secretary, with Mahawa Alieu elected as his deputy.
The newly elected officials are expected to steer the ruling party through its next phase of strategic political engagements, both nationally and within the party’s internal governance.
This year’s delegates conference, held in Bo, attracted wide participation from across the country, underscoring the SLPP’s grassroots strength and internal democratic processes.
