Freetown, October 8, 2025 – Sierra Leonean artist and political aspirant Natasha Beckley has become the subject of a police manhunt after authorities issued a warrant for her arrest over allegations of drug-related offences.
The warrant, recorded as C/R No. 161/2025, was released on Wednesday by law enforcement agencies, immediately sparking heated debate both offline and across social media platforms.
Beckley, who recently announced her intention to vie for the post of Deputy Chairperson in Port Loko District, is described in the police notice as fair in complexion and a resident of Freetown.
Police have appealed to the public for assistance in tracing her whereabouts, promising a reward for credible information. Citizens are directed to contact the Transnational Organized Crime Unit (TOCU) at Hastings/Rogbangba Junction, the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters at Pademba Road, or any nearby police station. Dedicated hotlines for the TOCU and CID leadership have also been made available.
Not long after news of the warrant broke, Beckley responded publicly through her Facebook page.
In her initial reaction, she dismissed the allegations, stressing that she had not been arrested nor was she on the run.
“I have also seen this. I am on my way to my lawyer and will keep you guys posted,” she wrote.
In a subsequent post, the musician suggested that the warrant was politically motivated, accusing rivals of orchestrating a smear campaign following her political declaration.
“My declaration for the position of Deputy Chair Port Loko really set the pace. TIME DON DON. My opponents are now paying bloggers to tarnish my reputation,” she asserted.
Beckley further revealed that she had advised her family to remain vigilant, provided them with lawyer contacts, and instructed them to document any unusual activity around her residence.
The case has divided public opinion, with her supporters rallying behind her claims of political sabotage, while critics question the seriousness of the accusations. The police are yet to release details regarding the evidence or timeline of the investigation.
As the controversy unfolds, Beckley’s political ambitions and legal troubles appear set to collide in what could become a defining moment ahead of local elections in Port Loko District.
