Freetown, 3 August 2025 — Sierra Leonean footballer Musa Noah “Tombo” Kamara, accompanied by his fiancée Memunatu “Memzo” Sow, landed early this morning at Freetown International Airport, arriving at 06:50 GMT on an Air Morac flight, marking his return home shortly after Club Sportif Sfaxien officially terminated his contract.
On 13 July, Kamara formally sealed a three-year contractwith Tunisian giants CS Sfaxien, following East End Lions’ acceptance of the transfer offer. The move generated high expectations among fans and local media alike.
His departure from Freetown had been preceded by weeks of speculation after Kamara missed earlier travel dates, citing the passing of his father and posting emotive messages asking for prayers, suggesting possible “spiritual attacks.” His fiancée later posted a public apology to Sfaxien officials, promising his arrival within a week.
Kamara completed his medical and signed with the club at Sfaxien’s training camp in Sousse. He participated in just one full training session before the club called for a player-coach-admin meeting.
Within 48 hours, the parties reached a mutual termination agreement, reportedly with no financial compensation exchanged. This came after Kamara reportedly refused to take part in double sessions per day, stating he preferred just one training session.
Sfaxien officials were said to have been already in negotiations with another African striker to replace Kamara, suggesting concerns about his fitness or determination.
Kamara’s move to Tunisia would have been his third international attempt— all three ending abruptly:
In 2019, he agreed to a contract with Swedish side Trelleborgs FF, but terminated it within less than a week, citing homesickness and “cold Scandinavian weather.” He later retracted those remarks.
A similar situation occurred in 2021, when he joined Al Ittihad (Libya). Within weeks he returned to Sierra Leone, alleging he could not adapt to conditions in Libya. That contract also ended early.
In contrast, his four seasons in Sierra Leone’s Premier League with East End Lions, Bo Rangers, and Ports Authority FC have been far more successful; he has won the Golden Boot award three times (2019, 2022, and 2024) and was named League Player of the Season in 2024.
Sierra Leone’s football authorities have reportedly reached out to both agents and Bo Rangers FC to locate Kamara’s next eligible registration options, especially ahead of upcoming CAF and domestic league commitments.
Despite the latest setback abroad, local teammates and fans remain confident that a return to domestic football is the opportunity he needs to prove his critics wrong once and for all.
