Freetown, August 5, 2025 — The Wellington Community Football Team has issued a strong statement asserting that they were the first to secure the signature of Sierra Leonean striker Musa Noah Kamara, popularly known as Musa Tombo, ahead of the 2025 ASSPA Inter-Area Tournament.
According to the Wellington team management, Musa Tombo signed with them before leaving for professional obligations in Tunisia. However, out of respect for the player’s international career and to avoid any potential distractions, they chose to delay publicizing the signing until the tournament was officially confirmed.
“Our agreement with Musa was reached long before his recent return to Sierra Leone,” the statement noted. “We withheld the announcement to allow him to focus on his overseas career, while also awaiting official approval of our tournament participation.”
The announcement comes in response to widespread circulation of photos showing the striker signing for Brima Lane Community and speculation of his involvement with other teams as well.
Despite these developments, Wellington claims Musa Tombo had maintained personal communication reaffirming his commitment to their squad.
“This situation is disappointing and raises questions about discipline, fairness, and player accountability,” Wellington stated, calling on ASSPA organizers to enforce tournament regulations and ensure transparency.
The community emphasized its commitment to integrity and fair play, urging football authorities to address the issue and protect the credibility of the tournament as teams finalize their preparations.
The controversy now places ASSPA organizers in a delicate position as they determine how to proceed with the apparent dual signing of the star forward.
