In a proactive effort to enhance security at the Youyi Building, Minister of Lands, Housing, and Country Planning, Dr. Turad Senesie, has introduced a vehicle pass system aimed at addressing the increasing incidents of vehicle theft within the compound.
This initiative comes in response to a spate of thefts that raised alarm among staff and visitors. Recognizing the urgency, Dr. Senesie, leveraging his background as a former police officer, consulted with the Inspector General of Police (IG) to explore effective measures to curb the issue. The IG endorsed the minister’s proposal, leading to the swift rollout of the vehicle pass system.
On Tuesday, October 22, Dr. Senesie personally inaugurated the system by overseeing on-the-spot training for security personnel stationed at the entrance and exit gates. This hands-on approach highlights the minister’s dedication to ensuring the safety of individuals accessing the facility.
Under the new system, drivers are required to leave their identification cards at the gate upon entry, in exchange for coded vehicle passes. These passes must be presented upon exit in order to reclaim their ID cards, creating a controlled and secure environment for vehicle movement.
“This vehicle pass system is a crucial step in protecting the property of both staff and visitors,” Dr. Senesie said during the launch. “We believe this measure will significantly reduce vehicle theft and strengthen the overall security at the Youyi Building.”
The minister urged all individuals using the facility to comply with the new system and to remain vigilant for any suspicious activity.
The vehicle pass system is expected to serve as a key deterrent to theft, contributing to a safer environment for everyone at the building.
