Former Liberian Chief Justice, Gloria Musu Scott, and three family members receive life sentences for the murder of her niece, Charlotte Musu.
The verdict follows a five-month trial in Monrovia, where the court deemed the prosecution’s evidence compelling.
The incident occurred in February last year when Charlotte was killed at Ms. Scott’s home in Brewerville.
Despite the former chief justice’s claims of intruders, the court found her and three others guilty of murder, conspiracy, and raising a false alarm.
Liberia’s abolition of the death sentence in July last year means the four women face a lifetime behind bars.
Ms. Scott’s legal team plans to appeal the judgment.
