Freetown, Sierra Leone – A bench warrant has been issued for the immediate arrest of Sierra Leonean rapper and entertainment envoy, Kao Denero, after he failed to appear in court today to face criminal charges.
Kao Denero, born Amara Denis Turay, is standing trial for alleged incitement and aggravated assault involving fellow musician Famous and his team.
His continued absence from court proceedings has now prompted the judiciary to take firm action.
The artist had previously informed the court that he was suffering from high blood pressure and had been admitted to the 34 Military Hospital before traveling to the United States for further medical treatment. However, the court rejected the submitted medical report, declaring it fake and legally inadmissible.
Due to what the court has described as a deliberate attempt to evade justice, a bench warrant was formally issued to ensure Kao Denero is brought before the court without further delay.
The matter has been adjourned pending his arrest and subsequent appearance.
