Freetown, Sierra Leone – A well-known businessman, Ibrahim Sorie Koroma, has been remanded in custody after appearing before Magistrate Mustapha Briama Jah at Pademba Road Court No. 1 on Thursday, October 9, 2025.
Koroma is accused of stealing a black leather bag containing $10,000 along with other valuables from Sierra Leone’s House of Parliament. He faces one count of larceny under Section 2 of the Larceny Act of 1916.
Court documents allege that on September 8, 2025, Koroma stole cash, a Watts power bank, a Samsung phone, and other items belonging to John Melvin Kuminah, with the total value estimated at Le 260,560.
No plea was taken during the hearing as the charge was formally read to the accused. Prosecutor Sergeant 9939 Mohamed Lahai sought a brief adjournment, noting that crucial witnesses were not yet available.
Magistrate Jah refused bail and ordered Koroma’s remand at the Freetown Male Correctional Center. The case is scheduled to continue on Thursday, October 16, 2025.
