FREETOWN – Sierra Leone’s Entertainment Ambassador, Amara Dennis Turay, better known as Kao Denero, has apologized in court for his role in a dispute with fellow musician Frederick Dapaye Peters, popularly known as Famous.
The case, which was heard on August 28, 2025, at Pademba Road Court No. 4 before Magistrate Adama Kandeh, stems from a February 22 confrontation at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Freetown. During the incident, associates of Kao Denero were accused of being involved in the disappearance of $7,000.
According to Famous’s lawyer, Madieu Sesay, a partial settlement of $5,000 was paid, with support from politician Hon. Sidie Tunis. However, Famous insisted the matter was not only about money but also about respect and accountability in the entertainment industry.
In court, Kao described the incident as “unfortunate” and emphasized that he had no violent intentions.
He extended a public apology to Famous, urging reconciliation and peace between their camps. Famous, through his lawyer, accepted the apology but reiterated that the dispute touched on issues of dignity and reputation.
Magistrate Kandeh advised both musicians to act responsibly as role models, particularly given their influence on young fans.
She also noted that Kao, in his ambassadorial role, should demonstrate leadership and promote unity in the creative sector.
The case has been adjourned to September 10, 2025, with further proceedings expected to take place privately.
