Vice President of the Republic of Sierra Leone, Dr. Mohamed Juldeh Jalloh, today Thursday 25th January, 2024 officially launched the Western Area Peninsula Water Fund at the Guma Valley Dam, Mile 13 in the Western Area Rural District.
Explaining the importance of the project to the Western Area and what it means to the Government, VP added that the Water Fund is a mechanism whereby the Government and development partners could drive fund raising initiatives to support water conservation and supply.
VP Juldeh Jalloh disclosed that the Water Fund is an innovative instrument that is outside the budgetary allocation to the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation.
The VP used the occasion to call for private sector participation in the water sector’s growth and expansion while at the same time pointing out the need to improve the performance of the utilities in the sector.
