In a significant development in the ongoing trial regarding the failed coup attempt of November 26, 2023, pivotal evidence emerged during a court martial session on April 11, 2024.
Among the key exhibits presented was a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra, owned by the primary suspect, Amadou Koita Makalo.
The phone contained incriminating images that depicted Makalo and several fugitives engaging in what appeared to be a ritual with a herbalist, alongside the slaughter of a white sheep.
Additionally, the court reviewed evidence from the phone of Corporal Edward Koroma, the sixth accused.
Koroma’s device held photos and WhatsApp messages that revealed similar ritualistic activities and also contained images of strategic locations, including the general armory of the Joint Logistics Unit in Murray Town. Notably, these images were accompanied by voice messages that could potentially link the accused to preparatory acts for the coup.
The proceedings also included testimony from Detective Mohamed Jusu of the cyber unit, who formally submitted Makalo’s phone into evidence, and Corporal David Saidu of the Joint Provost Unit.
Saidu presented various items including military fatigues and a wallet with documents belonging to another suspect, Mohamed Woodie. These items were reportedly recovered upon Woodie’s arrest in the Murray Town community, further tying the accused to the coup plot.
This court martial session underscores the gravity of the accusations and the depth of the investigation into the coup attempt, revealing a web of connections and premeditated actions involving multiple individuals within the military.
The trial continues to unfold, with the national and international community closely watching.
I believe many will benefit more , and to grasp a clear understanding by adding video evidences to many of your writeups most especially on the treason cases that are going on currently which is a prime focus as we speak.
The governance needs to reinforce respect for the rule of law in the country
Government foreign policy outweighs domestic policy. Something needed to be done about that as well .
Our institutions needs to function well , the judiciary, police, immigration , health and sanitation, education , electricity generation, trade and commerce, road and transport, marine resources, mining, argriculture, etc, etc . These sectors are not properly founctioning as they should be and the inaction is being a detarent to develolment and progress of our country. The majority if not all investors look up to these institutions as persuation and inspiration to investment. And as it’s clearly painted , investment is spending money to make a profit. As it is right now , investors are a bit skeptical of the instability of all the institutions mentioned above.
Corruption is not yet being minimized as expected , from palriament down to classrooms, police , judiciary, mining a whole nine yards drip drip of corruption scandals .
This is of no malice or critism but rather an observation and opinion
