Freetown, Sierra Leone – December 6, 2025 – The High Court Bailiff today sealed the Sierra Leone Football Association (SLFA) offices in Freetown.
The action follows a court order to pay $3 million in damages to former Leone Stars players Ibrahim Koroma and Samuel Barlay. The two sued the SLFA for defamation after being banned in 2014 over match-fixing claims in a 2008 game against South Africa.
In 2020, an SLFA Ethics Committee cleared them of any wrongdoing, but the damage to their careers was already done. The High Court ruled last month that the FA must pay $1.5 million to each player.
Senior Bailiff Dauda Bangura said the offices were locked because the SLFA failed to pay despite the court order.
SLFA officials could not be reached for comment.
Lawyers for Koroma and Barlay say they are still open to an out-of-court settlement, but the FA must act quickly.
The sealing comes at a difficult time for Sierra Leone football, as the new Premier League season has just started.
Fans and officials now wait to see if the matter will be resolved before it causes more problems for the sport in the country.
