On January 4th this year, the executive producers of the “Bormeh Series,” Dr. Isatu Kakay-Diallo, Fatu Formeh Kamara, and Idrissa Barry Jalloh, announced the upcoming premiere of a highly anticipated political drama series titled “Bormeh,” set for Summer 2024 across Europe, the United States of America, the UK, Canada, and Australia.
Produced by KID-AFAN FILMS and SIERRAFLIXX, “Bormeh” promises a peek behind the curtain of Sierra Leone’s most anticipated cinematic endeavor.
The series, starring Christiana Kamara as the enigmatic First Lady of the Republic, Mrs. Antonia Wright—a fictional character with underworld ties, eager to cling to power despite a dark past that looms over her future—will delve into the story of Sierra Leone’s capital, Freetown. The narrative unfolds around a notorious dumpsite, central to the city’s intrigue and secrets.
“Bormeh” also features performances by John Yemi Ade-Coker and Seray Timbo, promising a rollercoaster of suspense, intrigue, and dark revelations.
The series aims to expose the terrible and arcane mysteries that lurk behind the functioning of this dumpsite.
Dr. Isatu Kakay-Diallo, one of the executive producers, revealed to Salone Messenger that the series addresses real issues faced by Sierra Leoneans.
“It is a breathtaking and contemporary portrayal of creative minds in Sierra Leone. The ‘Bormeh’ project addresses real-life societal issues through storytelling, reflecting one of my visions for change and development in our country,” she noted.
Idrissa Barry Jalloh, director, producer, executive producer, and cinematographer, told Salone Messenger that the political drama thriller also features recent contemporary issues in Sierra Leone.
“From individuals in the Bormeh slum communities rising from grass to grace, to the less privileged grappling with the Kush drug pandemic and pollution, we aim to tell an authentic Sierra Leonean story that resonates with the people and draws attention to the socio-economic issues affecting our country,” he explained.
The series is directed with finesse by Chernor Kargbo (Stone) and Idrissa Barry Jalloh, and written by Chernor Kargbo (Stone).
