In response to a security threat that emerged on Sunday, November 26, 2023, Samura Kamara, the leader of Sierra Leone’s main opposition party, addressed the nation.
Urging fellow Sierra Leoneans to heed the Ministry of Information and Civic Education’s public notice, Kamara emphasized the critical importance of the advice provided.
The government swiftly implemented a nationwide curfew, effective immediately, with citizens instructed to remain indoors while state security forces work to regain control of the situation.
Kamara called on the public to place their faith and trust in God Almighty, expressing hope that the crisis would soon pass, allowing the nation to return to normalcy.
Highlighting the enduring importance of peace, unity, and the safety of the country, Kamara underscored the need for collective efforts to ensure a prosperous and secure future for Sierra Leone.

“Fellow Sierra Leoneans,
We are woken up today, Sunday, 26th November, 2023 with a security threat in this, our beloved country, Sierra Leone. I wish to draw from the Public Notice by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education to stress the critical importance of the advice contained therein.
The Government has announced a nationwide curfew effective immediately. We are all advised to stay indoors while the state security forces are taking control of the situation.
Let us all pay heed to this Advice and continue to put our Faith and Trust in God Almighty and pray that all will be over sooner rather than later, taking us back to our normal life soonest. His Mercies endureth forever.
The peace,unity and safety of our country are paramount and everything else will follow for a prosperous and secure Sierra Leone. This country needs the peaceful energies of each and every one of us to build, sustain a better future for all.
