Freetown, Sierra Leone — Parliament on Tuesday, November 11, 2025, officially swore in Hon. Mohamed Shebora Bangura as the new Member of Parliament representing Tonko Limba in Kambia District.
He replaces the late Hon. Ernest Dura Koroma, whose passing left the seat vacant.
The brief but significant ceremony was held in the Chamber of Parliament and conducted in accordance with the 1991 Constitution of Sierra Leone, as amended, and under the Proportional Representation System.
Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Segepoh Solomon Thomas Esq., referenced Regulation 2022 and a formal notification from the Electoral Commission of Sierra Leone confirming Hon. Bangura’s nomination.
Acting Clerk of Parliament, Gilbert Bosco N’habay, administered the Oath of Office in line with Section 83 of the Constitution and Standing Order 1(A).
Following the oath, Hon. Bangura received copies of the Standing Orders and the 1991 Constitution to guide his parliamentary duties.
In his welcome remarks, Speaker Thomas congratulated the new MP and encouraged him to draw from the experience of senior colleagues.
He emphasized the need for dedication, discipline, and punctuality, reminding him that parliamentary sittings commence promptly at 10:00 a.m.
The Speaker also urged Hon. Bangura to familiarize himself with parliamentary procedures to effectively serve his constituents and contribute meaningfully to national debates.
The swearing-in officially ushers Hon. Bangura into the Sixth Parliament of the Second Republic, marking the start of his tenure as the newest representative of the people of Kambia District.
