In a formal transition of power at the Ministry of Basic and Senior Secondary Education (MBSSE), Mr. Conrad Sackey assumed the role of Minister, vowing to build upon and expedite the successes achieved by his predecessor, Dr. Moinina David Sengeh.
During a poignant ceremony held at the MBSSE Headquarters in Freetown, Mr. Sackey expressed his commitment to maintaining the momentum established by Dr. Sengeh.
Recognizing the significance of his task, Mr. Sackey noted that stepping into the shoes of the best-performing minister from the previous administration presented an immense challenge.
In his address, Mr. Sackey emphasized the importance of the partnerships forged by his predecessor, both domestically and internationally.
He outlined his plan to reconnect with these key stakeholders within his first 100 days in office, reaffirming their shared commitment to consolidating the progress made under Dr. Sengeh’s leadership.
Highlighting his background and experience in the education sector, Mr. Sackey detailed his various roles, including Chair of the Sierra Leone Teaching Service Commission and Chief Executive Officer of the Windsor Fellowship, a renowned national education charity. His diverse skill set, including educational management, teaching, and strategic leadership, uniquely positions him to guide the Ministry forward.
Mr. Sackey’s vision aligns closely with the Education Sector Plan 2022-2026, a strategic framework launched by President Julius Maada Bio in 2022. This comprehensive plan will serve as his guiding principle throughout his tenure.
In a heartfelt farewell speech, former Minister Dr. Sengeh, now Chief Minister, expressed gratitude to the MBSSE staff for their unwavering support during his term.
He urged them to extend the same level of dedication to his successor, underscoring the continuity of their collective mission.
