In a startling development at the YSC on Wilkinson Road, tensions flared as members of Sierra Leone’s Lebanese community engaged in a violent altercation at the YSC Sports Centre in Freetown.
The incident, which unfolded on Friday night, has inundated social media platforms with videos capturing the confrontation, prompting a wave of public commentary.
Local journalist Amin Kef (Ranger) reported that Lebanese businessman and construction contractor, Ali Jaffal, became embroiled in a heated clash with the Antar family and other members of the Lebanese community.
He recounted Jaffal’s alarming behavior, including brandishing a firearm and engaging in physical combat, leading to an escalation of the situation.
Initial accounts suggest the altercation originated from a minor dispute involving children but quickly escalated as Jaffal resorted to violence. His actions, driven by a perceived sense of authority, have sparked widespread condemnation and raised questions about accountability within the community.
Law enforcement authorities swiftly intervened, disarming Jaffal during the confrontation and initiating an investigation into the incident.
The pistol involved was surrendered to the Lumley police station for further examination.
As the aftermath unfolds, the Sierra Leone Police have taken proactive measures, including securing the YSC club premises and intensifying efforts to address the allegations against all parties involved.
