A 58 years old man identified as Solomon was found dead in his room in Kono District but his clear identify was not known by his own neighbours in the community.
According to Sheku Sillah a close neighbour to the deceased Mr. Solomon, found the deceased dead at around 8:20 local time on Monday 30th October 2023 at Sheku Bambaya ‘s compound located in Kania old town, Tankoro Chiefdom, Koidu City,Kono District.
Mr. Solomon the deceased in question was discovered dead in his room after three days he passed away.
“We were only noticed through flies and the Odor and we opened the door went through and found him dead and his body has already been decomposed” he said.
He said that they had officially I informed the town Chief about the death of late Mr. Solomon while the landlord and family absconded the entire house including the nearby houses.
He disclosed that the late man Mr. Solomon was a local contractor and former worker for SALWACO Kono. He was a Mende by tribe from Bonthe District and he was known as single person with no wife or kid not even close relatives.
“Mr Solomon the late had an accident few months ago which restricted his movements and other personal activities”, he pointed out.
Chief Sahr Morchiendeh Ngebai who is the Town Chief Kania Old Town located in Tankoro Chiefdom, Koidu City,Kono District, said that he was informed only after the deceased body started decomposing.
He added that such is not healthy for people living around the area. He said e the landlord failed to inform him and they all abandoned the entire house.
“This is the first time such incident is taking place in our town and we must ensure we put stop to it by let know whowe are accommodating in our various homes and always get in touch with the authorities to avoid future embarrassment,” he said.
He maintained that legal actions would be taking against the landlord for failing to report to the authorities about the death of the late man (Mr. Solomon) and abandoned his house.
He said that he later informed the nearby police at the Kimbadu police post in Tankoro Chiefdom for further investigations surrounding the death of the late man.
And the police dashed at the scene of crime took some snapshots and other details.
The Deputy Mayor of Koidu New Sembehun City Council Sheku Kamara described the deceased as an abandoned Corpse which the council would take charge to bury the Corp.
Mayor Kamara pointed out that over weeks they havehad buried two similar corpses.
He called on the people to always report such incident to the appropriate authorities for prontprompt actions to be taken.
He assured that the Council has already buried the late man while the police still carrying their investigations.
