The Bank of Sierra Leone has in a public notice issued today announced an extra banking day for the year-end rush.
According to the notuce, in a regulatory move, financial authorities have invoked Section 53(1) of the Banking Act 2019 and Section 53 of the Other Financial Services Act 2001. As a result, commercial banks and other financial institutions are mandated to extend their services to the public on Saturday, December 30, 2023, from 9:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
According to the notuce, this initiative aims to offer an additional day of banking services during the holiday period.
The directive comes amidst the year-end rush, and institutions are urged to implement robust security measures to ensure the seamless operation of services to the public.
