In a dramatic turn of events, the legal representative for ex-President Ernest Bai Koroma, Joseph Kamara, expressed profound shock and disbelief in response to the treason charges leveled against his client.
Kamara strongly asserted, ‘A dangerous precedent has been set,’ emphasizing the gravity of the situation.
Addressing the media immediately after Koroma faced four counts of treason in court, Kamara conveyed, ‘A dark cloud has shadowed the skies of our country, dragging a former head of state who was democratically elected on trumped-up charges under a political vendetta.’
The state alleges that Koroma, who served two consecutive five-year terms, was involved in an attempt to overthrow the government on November 26.
