In a recent Defense Council (DC) meeting held on Thursday, January 18th, 2024, the retirement of Thirty Seven (37) officers from the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces has been endorsed, announces the Ministry of Defence and the Republic of Sierra Leone Armed Forces.
The retirement includes officers from various categories:
a. Voluntary Discharge: Six (6) officers ranging from the ranks of Second Lieutenant to Major.
b. Compulsory Discharge on grounds of Absent without Leave (AWOL): Eight (8) officers ranging from the ranks of Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant Colonel.
c. Compulsory Discharge on grounds of Subversion: Eighteen (18) officers ranging from the ranks of Lieutenant to Major.
d. Compulsory Discharge on grounds of Misconduct: Five (5) officers ranging from the ranks of Lieutenant to Colonel.
According to the announcement, the decision aligns with Section 169 (1) of the Constitution of Sierra Leone Act No. 6 of 1991, alongside other relevant regulations stated in Sections 26 and 27 a and b of the Army Orders Act No. 1 of 1965 of RSLAF.
